Good Morning, and happy May!!!!
We continue to work in Unit 8 on fractions and decimals. We will also continue to do problem solving with data, learning about the median, mean, and range. Please...please practice math facts at home. It is an invaluable skill, and lack of automaticity is a problem from here on out in math. THANKS!!
Mrs. Hammel-Peterson
Classroom Notes April 17-21
Hello,
This week we are actively involved in our unit on fractions. We are studying fractions in as many ways as the book and I can think of this week. We are also doing problem solving using data and are looking at mean, median, mode and range. These are skills students have learned previously, but will continue to be reviewed throughout middle school. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hello,
Well we have now finished our beginning of the year assessments and can get down to learning! We are introducing a mathematical strategy called expanded addition in the Trans Math Curriculum. All lessons are also supported with the online VMath program. Homework will be completed in class so that I am sure students get it done and understand the lessons. Please encourage your child to practice multiplication facts at home. You may use mathplayground.com and multiplication.com as a fun, game-type way to practice. We will be testing on 3x multiplication facts on Wednesday. Please contact me with any questions you may have.

Classroom Notes August 22-26 2016
Hello, and welcome back to school!
We are all getting to know each other and getting to know the routines of middle school. This year we will be practicing our math facts on a daily basis and will take quizes on them on Wednesdays. We will use the Transmath Curriculum regularly as well as activities that support the concepts being taught in the text. The students have always made wonderful growth with this program. I will also include hands- on activities and manipulatives whenever they will be helpful in understanding the concepts. This week the district will also begin the MAPS online Math assessments for the beginning of the year benchmarks. Please contact me if you ever have any questions.
